Well I have returned from my first full week vacation in the last couple of years, though I worked for about an hour a day remotely Monday-Thursday. (I never get truly free)

We rented a house on the beach in Nags Head, It had a great room with an all glass wall even with the dunes, (indeed there was a wooden walkway to stairs right down to the beach), with the sliders open the breeze blowing in, the surf noise, and a fireplace to cozy up to at the same time it was very relaxing.

We did a guided tour of the four by four beaches in Corrola to see the wild horses, very cool. What a strange economy/culture.

Since I was looking at that (being me), I did an interesting analysis on the viability of the distressed oceanfront property purchase renovation rent for profit angle. Unfortunately the revenue stream does not compensate for the out of pocket. Too bad I looked at a CAMA non rebuildable for 500k that had potential, but the numbers are just south not taking into account the negative CAMA lottery.

We had fun and decent weather. I read three books cover to cover on friday.

Be well.

New rules for Credit Cards in the Public Comments stage.

In the most far-reaching crackdown on the credit industry in decades, the Federal Reserve and two federal agencies are proposing new rules that would prohibit:

Placing unfair time constraints on payments. A payment could not be deemed late unless the borrower was given a reasonable period of time, such as 21 days, to pay.

Unfairly allocating payments among balances with different interest rates. The proposal would require that payments above the minimum be applied in a way that was "beneficial" for the cardholder. For example, a payment above the minimum would go toward a large balance at an 18% annual percentage rate rather than a small 0% balance transfer.

Unfairly raising annual percentage rates on outstanding balances. The rule would ban retroactive interest-rate increases on existing outstanding balances unless a consumer was 30 days late on the account. Banks would not be able to retroactively raise rates on good customers for activity unrelated to the specific card, such as a late payment on a mortgage.

Placing too-high fees for exceeding the credit limit solely because of a hold placed on the account, usually by rental car companies or hotels.

Unfairly computing balances with methods such as "two-cycle billing," which can result in an interest charge even in a month in which the cardholder carries no balance.

Unfairly adding security deposits and fees for issuing credit or making credit available. The rules would ban fees that consumed a majority of a new card's credit limit.

Making deceptive offers of credit. Card offers would have to clearly state the factors required to achieve the interest rate and credit limit advertised.

Definetly a good start- a representative of the Banking industry Responds:

"This is a very aggressive regulatory intervention in the marketplace that will lead to higher prices and less credit options for everyday consumers," Ken Clayton, the senior vice president of card policy of the American Bankers Association, told The Washington Post. "It basically says that we can't price for risk and we can't in a cost-effective way provide these low-cost options like balance transfer opportunities at zero percent interest because of the way they're mandating how these loans get paid back. We won't be able to make the loan."

To which I respond "How do you sleep at night you little shit.

Be well.

Ignoring the fact that since we are talking right now, you could push for money now and save your self a call tomorrow, given that you work for me I can pretty safely ignore you don't you think. Just take them off your call list.

Jay: I can't do that they owe us a lot of money.

Pause

Me: Jay I do not have time for this, just take them off your call list and move on.

Jay: Does George(the owner of my company) know we are not following up with Bruno anymore?

Me: No I took over Bruno's accounting functions without telling him, you know what go ahead and put Bruno back on your call list, it gives me a whole day to figure out how best to make fun of you when you call tomorrow, now run along and play I have work to do.

click

Unfortunately I share him with another manager and it takes a unanimous vote to fire him.

Be well.

Dear Ben,

Putting aside your typical bushie its not my fault(hiw many days does it take to find the superdome) attitude. You are correct that banks over lent in the mortgage arena, that consumers purchased mortgages, particularly 0 down ARMS that were dangerous and had a substantial chance of blowing up in their faces. So what, you knew all this, you knew that present economic growth was being fueled by equity borrowing, and it was your business to know that pushing up interest rates would accelerate mortgage defaults, the first domino in the ugly chain. As a financial professional I cannot give you a pass here, any more than as a reasonably intelligent person I can overlook the government being unable to get water to the superdome for five days.

Simply put, you suck at your job.

Be well...asshole

Seperate out any cards from Capital One or Bank of america.

Step 5. Exit plan your way out of these cards.

Why? Mostly because these cards are notoriously consumer unfriendly, andf famous for unexpectedly jacking up your interest rate. Individualy because Capital One in addition to the sins already listed reports information to credit beareaus in a way that makes the same pattern look worse than other credit cards. Bank of America is buying out Countrywide which will have a negative effect on short term profittability. They do not have the stomach for that kind of a long term strategy, there are already reports on them targetting a segment of thier customer base for suddenly jacked up rates, and I smell more moves of a similar smell to come.

Be well.
